This year, Tollywood has had several releases, even being the first film industry in the country that took the brave step of releasing films in theatres after the first wave of Coronavirus, in January this year. While there were hits and misses this year as well, most of the films that Tollywood produced this year turned out to be profitable at the box office. Of the many films that were released this year, this is a list of the top 10 best films:

  • Akhanda

The combination of Balayya and director Boyapati Srinu is one of the best combinations in Tollywood. They delivered two blockbuster successes in the past, in the form of Simha and Legend, and naturally, there were huge expectations on their third film Akhanda. Not only did Akhanda surpass everyone’s expectations, but even managed to give the audiences a complete theatrical experience.

  • Pushpa: The Rise

Icon Star Allu Arjun’s much-awaited film Pushpa: The Rise, released on December 17th this year, after a lot of anticipation. The film served as just the setup of what’s to come in the second part, Pushpa: The Rule, which is scheduled to release in 2022. Pushpa was Bunny’s show all along, who drove the film to be successful at the box office.

  • Shyam Singha Roy

After two years, Shyam Singha Roy marked the first theatrical release for Natural Star Nani. There were high expectations on the film, and it is also the costliest film of Nani’s career so far. Shyam Singha Roy amazed the audiences upon its release, who fell in love with the spellbinding love story and spectacular performances by Nani and Sai Pallavi.

  • Love Story

Director Sekhar Kammula has created his own mark in the Telugu film industry, with his soulful and sensible films. As a result, when the director once again teamed up with Sai Pallavi after the grand success of Fidaa, and for the first time with Naga Chaitanya, everyone had their hopes high. Love Story managed to win the audience’s hearts, and then some more, having tackled certain sensitive issues very beautifully.

  • Vakeel Saab

Despite being released at the peak of the second wave of coronavirus, and despite being a remake of the Hindi film Pink, Vakeel Saab turned out to be a very good hit at the box office, thanks to the charisma of Pawan Kalyan. The actor not only brought the masses in but also made the film his own with his own mark. The movie also made a perfect comeback for the actor after 3 years.

  • Jathi Ratnalu

Directed by Anudeep KV, Jathi Ratnalu featured Naveen Polishetty, Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna, whose onscreen bromance and comedy timing split everyone in the theatres. Jathi Ratnalu is that film which makes you forget everything else and takes you along with it, for one of the best rides.

  • Cinema Bandi

A Netflix original, Cinema Bandi is a unique and simple concept that deals with two people who come across a camera and aspire to make a film. A loveable and charismatic film, Cinema Bandi makes you fall in love with its universe and characters. Also, who can forget Maridesh babu?

  • Most Eligible Bachelor

Despite making a dream debut with Akhil in 2014, Akhil Akkineni couldn’t score a success until this year. Having been in the making for nearly 2 years now, Most Eligible Bachelor, featuring Pooja Hegde alongside Akhil, was released this year. While there were decent expectations on the film, the concept and performances of the leads made the movie a grand success.

  • Krack

Mass Maharaj Ravi Teja had been suffering due to the several failures he had to see in the last few years, but that changed this year, with the release of Krack. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, Krack offered the audiences the Ravi Teja they all fell in love with and showcased the actor in all of his energy and glory, making it one of the best films of the year.

  •  Uppena

Uppena had huge expectations on it since day one, thanks to the involvement of Vijay Sethupathi in the film. While Vijay was the person who brought the audiences to the theatres, the film’s concept, and the performances of the leads, Vaishnav Tej and Krithi Shetty, who debuted with the film, made the film a good success.
