Amid good buzz, Bollywood Superstar Akshay Kumar’s film, Bell Bottom has hit the screen on August 19th. Along with the film’s team, the trade had also pinned a lot of hopes on this star hero’s film.
Opened to the decent word of mouth, Bell Bottom’s first-day collections literally shocked the trade circles as it failed to collect even Rs 3 crore(NET) at the Indian box office. Usually, before the Covid crisis, on average each film of Akshay Kumar’s used to register Rs 20-30 crore range collections on its first day but after witnessing the poor show of Bell Bottom on its opening day, it is evident that the majority of the audience mainly the multiplex group is not prepared to throw to theatres amidst the Covid third wave panic circumstances.
Bell Bottom’s poor performance at the box office is indeed an eye-opener for upcoming pan-India projects such as RRR, KGF2, Pushpa and even for Bollywood big-budget films. After witnessing the Covid effect on Bell Bottom, will the makers of upcoming pan-India projects change their mindset and postponed the theatrical release of their respective films for some more months? Needs to be seen.
