Rema Lahiri, Bappi Lahiri’s daughter, talked about her father and recalled how he created his music.
Rema Lahiri, a daughter of the late popular singer and composer Bappi Lahiri, recalled her father’s role in the creation of the romantic track “Pyar Kabhi Kam Nahi Karna” from the 1989 movie “Prem Pratigyaa,” which starred Mithun Chakraborty and Madhuri Dixit.
She is performing on the singing reality show “Indian Idol 13” with Rego B, the grandson of Bollywood’s “disco king,” as the celebrity guest for the special episode of “Celebrating Bappi Da.”
Rema appreciated Bidipta Chakraborty for her wonderful voice and her melodic interpretation of the songs “Pyar Kabhi Kam Nahi Karna” and “Jawaani Jaaneman,” and she enjoyed the performances by the participants on the show.
The song selection is excellent, said Rema as she reflected on her father, Bappi Lahiri. For Mithun Da, my father wrote the song “Pyar Kabhi Kam Nahi Karna.” My father chose to sing it for Mithun Da since it was such a beautiful and romantic song. It sounded so good, looked so in sync, and on screen that it instantly became the greatest song ever. Even in the challenging song “Jawani Jaaneman,” you sung it beautifully and expressively.
A long number of Bappi Lahiri’s well-known songs, including “Raat Baaki,” “Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost,” and “Jawani Jaaneman,” will reverberate in our ears forever. The judges were astounded by the top eight competitors, who included Rishi Singh from Ayodhya, Bidipta Chakraborty, Debosmita Roy, Senjuti Das, Sonakshi Kar from Kolkata, Chirag Kotwal from Jammu, Navdeep Wadali from Amritsar, and Shivam Singh. Guests also paid tribute to the talented singer and composer during their performances.
Indian Idol 13’s judges are Vishal Dadlani, Neha Kakkar, and Himesh Reshammiya.
