My crime thriller web series ‘Bombay Jaan’ has been released today on OTT platform Zee5. The series tells the story of the rapidly growing mafia rule in Bombay in the 1970s. The series stars KK Menon and Avinash Tiwari in the lead roles. Let us know how the series is!

Story: The story of ‘Bombay Meri Jaan’ begins with a fight between the mafia and the police. Where all the officers of the police department are in touch with the city mafia Haji Maqbool (Saurabh Sachdev). So Ismail (KK Menon) emerges as an honest police officer. They start closing down all the legal businesses of Haji Maqbool with strong intentions. Ismail also starts becoming successful in his operation, but one day due to an accident he is suspended.

Now to know whether Ismail is able to get his job back or not, what kind of situations he has to go through to run the house, watch Bombay Meri Jaan on Amazon Prime!

Performance: There are many great actors in this series, KK Menon plays the role of Ismail Qadri. He has lived this character very well and brought it on screen. KK’s acting is really commendable. Then Avinash Tiwari has also done very good acting in the role of a gangster, he has shown his acting skills since the series Khaki – The Bihar Chapter. Kritika Kamra has also acted well in the role of Habiba. The rest of the actors have also performed well.

Technicalities: Shujaat Saudagar has taken charge of the direction of this series, he has tried well to show a crime drama. Although the direction seems a bit lost at some places, the story of the series is very good which keeps it engrossing. This series has been written by the famous crime journalist S Hussain Zaidi, so it would be better to give him the credit for the goodness of the series.

Analysis: This 10 episode series continues with the voice over of KK Menon. The series depicts Bombay from the 40s to the 80s. During this period, many gangsters had flourished and Mumbai had seen many incidents of violence.

The story of the first two episodes of the series shows Ismail Qadri’s fight with the underworld. However, the series seems clichéd at many places. KK Menon keeps the series interesting in the first two episodes.

Then the story progresses from the third episode. You will find the story clichéd at many places. The production department has done a good job in making the series look like it was in the 80s. Abuse has been used extensively in the series, although it also seems unnecessary at many places.

Verdict: Overall, the acting of the actors is better than the story of the series, although the story is also good.

Rating: 2/5
