After the blockbuster success of Manjummel Boys, director Chidambaram returns with Balan The Boy, a survival thriller starring Farzana Palathingal, Adiseshan, and Tovino Thomas. Produced by KVN Productions and released in Telugu by Annapurna Studios, the film has generated good interest among audiences. Balan: The Boy Story: Indu (Farzana) is jailed in a murder case while pregnant and is later released with her son Vasudevan (Adiseshan). Hoping for a fresh start, she moves to a village near a forest and begins a new life. But after getting involved in another murder, she is separated from her son.

As Vasudevan grows up, he ends up in the care of criminal Abbas (Tovino Thomas), while police officer Pavithran plays a key role in keeping mother and son apart. What happens to Vasudevan and whether he reunites with his mother forms the rest of the story.

Performances: Farzana and Adiseshan are the biggest strengths of Balan The Boy, delivering heartfelt performances as a mother and son. Farzana shines in the emotional role, while Adiseshan impresses with his expressions. Tovino Thomas is effective in an extended guest role as a criminal, but his character lacks depth. Mohammed Zinan, who plays teenage Vasudevan, is not fully convincing in the role.
