Anjali‘s newest web series is called “Bahishkarana”. The series gained popularity because Anjali appeared glamorous in the teaser and trailers. Today, you can watch all six episodes of this series on “Zee 5”. Let’s see what this series is all about!

Bahishkarana Web Series Story: In the village of Peddapalli, President Shivayya (played by Ravindra Vijay) holds immense power. When the beautiful prostitute Pushpa (played by Anjali) arrives, Shivayya falls deeply in love with her. He wants to keep her by his side, despite the whole town talking about Pushpa’s beauty and her importance to him. Meanwhile, Pushpa develops feelings for Shivayya’s right-hand man, Darshi. They decide to marry, and Shivayya gives his approval. However, during wedding preparations in Patnam, Darshi faces an unexpected shock from Shivayya. The series “Bahishkarana” explores how Lakshmi (played by Ananya Nagalla) enters Darshi’s life, why Darshi ends up in jail, and what happens next in Pushpa’s life.

Performances: Anjali has proven herself as a talented actress over time. However, lately, it seems she’s taking on bold roles primarily for career opportunities. She played a prostitute in Vishwak Sen’s Gangs of Godavari and now portrays a similar role in “Baishkarana”. Yet, her trademark acting skills shine through consistently, including in intimate scenes which are handled with appropriate sensitivity. Anjali also delivers a strong performance in the climax episode.

Ravindra Vijay impresses as President Shivayya, showcasing good looks and strong dialogue delivery. However, some scenes may remind viewers of Jagapathi Babu’s roles in “Rangasthalam” and “Rudrangi”.

Sritej earns praise for his promising acting, though he remains an underrated actor. Ananya Nagalla’s role feels standard, and Sammeta Gandhi’s character lacks novelty. Shanmukh, Chaitanya Sagiraju, and Mohammed Basha play their roles adequately, while other characters are less memorable.

Technical Aspects: After “Rangasthalam”, there’s been a rise in gritty and realistic dramas, with ‘Pushpa’ being a recent example. However, these genres are now losing popularity in cinemas. That’s why “Bahishkarana”, made in a similar vein, was released as a web series on OTT platforms instead. The story itself doesn’t offer anything particularly new, but it manages to keep viewers engaged with its dialogue and some intriguing scenes.

Director Mukesh Prajapati has crafted episodes to maintain a raw and authentic atmosphere. The series addresses sensitive topics like caste and untouchability, which may be unsettling for some viewers. If released in theaters, these themes could have sparked controversy, but being on OTT,

they’re less likely to be taken as seriously. The production values match the story’s needs, with commendable cinematography and background music.

Analysis: “Bahishkarana” is a web series with somewhat sensitive content. The first three episodes start off slow, but the story picks up afterward and becomes more engaging. It might be worth checking out over the weekend.

Verdict: “Bahishkarana” presents a web series with a narrative that starts slow in the first three episodes but gains momentum thereafter. It delves into sensitive themes effectively, touching upon issues like caste and untouchability with a raw and authentic approach. While the storyline may not offer entirely new elements, it manages to hold interest through engaging dialogue and intriguing scenes. The series is well-suited for viewers interested in gritty dramas and is worth a watch for its exploration of societal issues.

Bottom Line: Gritty Drama.
