Backlash In Telugu States Over Rishab Shetty’s Speech

Actors and technicians from other film industries often call Telugu audiences the best supporters of Indian cinema.

Yet, when they come to Andhra Pradesh or Telangana for promotions most don’t even try speaking in Telugu. Rishab Shetty’s Kantara was a blockbuster, with huge support from Telugu audiences.

A grand pre-release event for Kantara: Chapter 1 was held in Hyderabad but Rishab spoke entirely in Kannada, without attempting even a few words in Telugu.

This disappointed fans especially because he spoke in Tamil during Tamil Nadu promotions and fluent Hindi in Mumbai. Despite the presence of a top star like NTR at the event Rishab’s choice led to severe backlash.

Social media is now filled with trolls and hashtags demanding a ban on the film. Meanwhile discussions about a ticket hike for this dubbed release could add more negativity.

Kantara: Chapter 1 releases on October 2, directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Hombale Films.
