Shakthi Thirumagan, starring Vijay Antony and directed by Arun Prabhu Purushothaman, hit theatres on September 19th.
The film which highlights important social issues, received positive reviews. After its OTT release on October 24th it gained even more attention, with many praising its strong message.
However the film is now facing a plagiarism controversy. Writer Subhash Sundar has claimed that Shakthi Thirumagan is based on his story Thalaivan, written three years ago.
He said he had sent the story with Madhavan in mind for the villain’s role, to Dream Warriors Pictures, the producers of Aruvi. Subhash shared proof, including copyright documents and said he plans to take legal action.
Director Arun Prabhu dismissed these claims calling them completely false and stating that Shakthi Thirumagan is entirely his own creation.
