AR Rehman started his journey in the films by composing brilliant songs for Roja in 1992 for his mentor Mani Ratnam. From then he embarked on a great journey to Hindi films, conquering International fame. He was given a chance to score for Bombay Dreams and that triggered the famed composer to collaborate with Hollywood directors and composers for his albums. The chance to compose for Slumdog Millionaire in 2009 gave him his twin Oscar win for the best score and Best song both in the same year.

Then he was again shortlisted to win Oscar for Danny Boyle’s 127 hours and the original song, If I Rise. Unfortunately even though he got the final nomination, he did not win the Oscar for the songs or score. This year, he got a chance to compose for Pele biopic and he did a great job once again. For his work, he got shortlisted into the long list of 145 scores this year and his song, Ginga, was also shortlisted in 91 songs picked up from various movies through out the year.

Many believe that he has a chance to get nominated again. If he has a chance to win or not it is pretty premature to speak about. The Oscars will be held at Kodak Studio Theatre, on 26th February and the nominations will be announced by the end of January. He could be the composer from India to get another Oscar or at least a nomination this time too. Rehman was earlier appreciated for his work in movies like Million Dollar Arm as well. Hopefully, he wins for Pele: The Birth of a Legend again.
