AR Rahman turns director with Le Musk!

Ever thought about a film with smell? Yes, a film that talks to about the essence of a perfume and how strong it plays on your memories and shapes your thoughts. It does feel a bit of a stretch but when masters of story telling or people who seriously understand filmmaking are at your disposal, you do feel obliged to at least listen and see what they want to showcase for you.

Well, AR Rahman, the biggest composer from India and double Oscar winner is turning into a director with such a short VR film, Le Musk. The French title is to give the movie an International touch and the composer decided to explore the growing technology of Virtual Reality with the help of Sony for his movie. The lead protagonist of this movie is a young girl who identifies the smell and the sense grows big with her age too.

AR Rahman talking about the movie said, “I zeroed on the idea for this movie, when I started checking perfumes with my wife during our shopping session. We both started chatting about sense of the smell and strength of various perfumes on our psyche and she suggested, I should make a movie about it. She also helped me in writing the story.” He is making the movie in collaboration with Danny Boyle’s daughter, Grace and her production company, Feelies. Well, what surprises does Mozart of Madras have for us, isn’t it exciting to know?
