AR Rahman Gets Relief In Copyright Case

AR Rahman recently faced a copyright issue regarding the song “Veera Raja Veera” from Ponniyin Selvan 2.

Fayaz Wasifuddin Dagar claimed that the song was copied from ‘Shiva Stuti’ a devotional piece composed by his family. He said Rahman used it in the film with only minor changes.

Earlier, the court ordered Rahman and the film’s production house, Madras Talkies, to deposit Rs. 2 crore as part of the case.

However Rahman argued that the song was only inspired by the classical piece and was not a direct copy. Now the Delhi High Court has temporarily paused the previous order after Rahman appealed.

This means he doesn’t have to deposit the Rs. 2 crore for now. The case is still ongoing, but this decision gives Rahman some relief as he continues to defend his work. The court will look into the matter further in the coming days.
