The main reason behind filmmakers not willing to take the risk of releasing their films theatrically in the Telugu states is the issue over the ticket prices for films in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The AP government had previously released a GO imposing restrictions on ticket prices in the state. All the big names of Tollywood planned on meeting Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, but the meeting got postponed to the first week of September, due to which the release dates of films scheduled to release in September have gotten affected.
Gopichand’s Seetimaarr, directed by Sampath Nandi, was initially scheduled to release on September 3rd but has now been pushed to be released on September 10th. Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s Love Story, which was announced to release on September 10th, has now been pushed to be released on September 24th. Several other films have also been pushed as a result.
This will further affect the Dussehra and Diwali season as well, and many films would want to be released before Christmas this year, as Allu Arjun’s Pushpa is scheduled to be released for Christmas. It is now to be seen if all of these efforts will be rewarded in the end, with CM Jagan revising his earlier GO.
