The Andhra Pradesh government got everyone severely worried after it announced last year that the ticket prices for every film have been slashed and that the ticket prices would hereby be dictated by the government itself, and not by the producers, as entertainment shouldn’t be commercialized.
While the government has gone back with its strict policies regarding film tickets, it is still intent on opening an online portal for ticket booking. The government has been trying to implement it and put it into motion for quite some time now, but it hasn’t happened yet. Now, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has put a stay order on the same until July end, further delaying the process.
On the other hand, every movie producer is going to the AP government prior to release, to get permission for increasing the ticket prices for their movies, making the government’s initial decision null and void. It should now be seen what purpose the online system would ultimately serve.
