Yesterday, the Andhra Pradesh High court dismissed the cinema ticket pricing GO brought into existence by the state government earlier this year. After the theatre owner approached the High Court on the same issue, the court dismissed the GO and slated that previous rates will come into existence as an immediate effect.
Meanwhile, this morning, the ruling government in AP filed a lunch motion petition before Division Bench of High Court against Single Judge Bench verdict of striking down the ticket prices GO 35. But the latest news is that the hearing is Adjourned to tomorrow as yesterday’s single judge verdict copy is yet to be received by the Division Bench. Who wins in this legal battle? Remains to be seen.
As per the media reports, the government has already started search operations across all single screens in the state and going to submit the loopholes in the theatres maintenance system tomorrow to the Division Bench. By looking at the scenario, it is evident that the government has taken the issue seriously which indeed going to trouble the upcoming biggies.
