2016 has come to an end and almost 150 Telugu films straight have released this year. Several films that were waiting in the Labs for clearances due to various problems have found some release too this year. But Demonetization has took its toll on new releases post November 8th and any small films have postponed their release dates to later dates than they have planned and most of them bombed barring Ekkadikipothavu Chinnavada. Sapthagiri Express and Nanna Nenu Naa Boyfriends are also being publicised as hits but the ground reality is reported differently by the exhibitors and distributors. Due to cash crunch the small films are in a fix to whether release the film or wait for the right moment.
2016 has seen many big films bombing at the box office while actors like Jr. NTR and Nagarjuna Akkineni reaped major benefits with their two released films grossing high. Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu even though gave disasters proved their star power by placing their debacles among the top grossers of the year. The dub film industry saw a great success like Bicchagadu and had many movies that lost money like Kashmora, Rail, Dhramayogi and so on. Kabali, the Rajnikanth starrer managed to break even in several areas after a sensational weekend.
As this mixed year coming to an end, Nara Rohit who had maximum releases this year than any other hero and Allari Naresh are coming on 30th December to test their luck for one last time this year. Both the actors did not see even one of their film working at the box office. Even Jo Achyuthananda lost money at several places due to high prices. The year of 2016 started on a high with a hit like Nenu Shailaja on 1st day of the year and a great Sankranthi season with two grand successes. Will the year end with a hit? A big question that will be answered in a day!
