Anurag Kashyap Reveals Dark Secret of Nepotism in Bollywood

Amitabh Bachchan was once accused by Anurag Kashyap of interfering with the release of Chittagong to benefit Abhishek Bachchan.

Because of their comparable styles as directors, Anurag Kashyap and Quentin Tarantino are frequently contrasted. They each have a distinct vision for their films, and neither one of them is averse to calling a spade a spade. In fact, the AK vs AK actor called out Amitabh Bachchan and started a conversation on nepotism without even the slightest hesitation. Nearly two decades ago, even before Kangana Ranaut made her debut in the business, he called out the biases in Bollywood!

Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Rajkumar Rao played the key roles in the 2012 film Chittagong. The Chittagong Uprising in British-ruled India and a historical military drama served as the inspiration for Bedabrata Pain’s film.

It’s interesting to note that Chittagong was scheduled to premiere around 2010 earlier than it did. This year saw the release of the Ashutosh Gowariker-directed film Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey starring Abhishek Bachchan, which had the same topic. Anurag Kashyap claims that Amitabh Bachchan delayed the release of KHJJS so that his son’s movie would be shown first.

Anurag Kashyap allegedly criticised Amitabh Bachchan for screwing up the Chittagong movie’s release schedule in a blog post that he uploaded on his Reddit profile. See Chittagong, a much better movie done about the same theme as Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, he advised in his essay. With actors that are much better and for a fraction of the price… Because of a phone call from someone who was frantically trying to rescue his son’s career, the producers decided to hold off. Welcome to Bollywood, where your son’s fame eclipses all of your efforts, passion, and ability. KHJJS arrived and left; what now ?

Amitabh Bachchan made a remark on it in a chat, stating, “This is incorrect and baseless, and I do not wish to dignify this undignified remark by commenting on it.” In an effort to quell the uproar, director Bedabrata Pain reportedly stated, “Anurag is considered to be a very candid and brave guy. I feel quite flattered that individuals like he and Vishal Bhardwaj have lent their support to the movie. I wish to avoid any controversy at all costs. My 16-year-old son passed away some time ago, and at the moment, my 12-year-old son is my top priority. I want tourists to visit Chittagong. The episode of Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey is over. The tale must yet be told.
