The film honours the medical community of researchers and practitioners who created the vaccine under the most difficult conditions.
Anupam Kher, an actor, is getting ready for the premiere of the upcoming Vivek Agnihotri film “The Vaccine War,” in which he will play a cabinet secretary who oversees the development of Covaxin by ICMR at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in India.
The actor wrote: “THE VACCINE WAR:” on his X.Sanatan Dharma is the self-belief of Bharat.
Describing his own role, Anupam Kher continued: “When @vivekagnihotri was making #TheVaccineWar there wasn’t any substantial role for me in it. It is primarily a women scientists film with the only male lead being played by the great #NanaPatekar !”
“I wanted to be associated with this most important film of our times where #IndiaCanDoIt is the theme. Vivek offered me the role of the #CabinetSecretary as a special appearance! Proud to be part of this gem of a film. Releasing on 28th Sept worldwide! Hail women power, Jai Ho!”
In a little sneak look from his appearance as the Cabinet Secretary that he also released, he was heard saying: “Now that the enemies of India are once again attempting to destabilise the nation from within, it is up to us how we act. Do we believe in ourselves and become independent (Atmanirbhar) or do we let ourselves to be coerced into submission?
“We must bring 6,000 Indians back for testing with extreme prudence, haste, watch, and patience. This self-belief is eternal and is Sanatan.
“Sir, we have got our first case,” says Nana Patekar, who plays the primary scientist in the movie, towards the very end. To the PM we must disclose it. Anupam Kher listened to this after he got up from the chair and walked out
The actor has flawlessly nailed the appearance because he is wearing a very convincing outfit that would be worn by a real cabinet secretary.
Kher’s use of the term “Sanatan” also follows the uproar caused by DMK politician Udhayanidhi Stalin’s disparaging remarks about Sanatan Dharma.
The main emphasis of “The Vaccine War” will be Nana Patekar’s team as they manufacture the vaccine under intense pressure and against growing media criticism due to their own political views and agendas, all the while promoting the slogan “India can do it.” As a result, the movie makes a point about how the vaccine is produced locally and about the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ slogan.
The film places a lot of emphasis on the negative role played by a particular segment of the media since some people had expressed serious concerns about the quality of the Indian vaccine and instead preferred to acquire Western vaccinations.
Agnihotri had stated that woman power, or “naari shakti,” was a huge part of the film because, according to his research, over 60% of the scientists involved in the project were women, something he later decided to highlight. This is in addition to the overall “Make in India” and “India can do it” theme of the movie.
The Vaccine War, starring Nana Patekar, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, Sapthami Gowda, Raima Sen, Girja Oak, Nivedita Bhattacharya, Mohan Kapur, and Vivek Prabhakar, is scheduled for release on September 28, 2023.
The film pays homage to the medical community of scientists and physicians that created the vaccine under the most trying conditions and succeeded, demonstrating the tremendous pressure they were under and the numerous challenges they encountered.
