In an interview, Anupam Kher opened up about his battle with depression. The veteran actor shared details about how he was diagnosed.
He recalled struggling with insomnia for a year, especially a year before his father passed away. Kher even visited a sleep clinic in Chicago but couldn’t sleep at night.
When he went to his ophthalmologist for an eye ointment due to dryness, the doctor suggested he see a psychiatrist instead.
At first, Kher was surprised and joked about it saying he was a positive person and a bestselling author who didn’t need a psychiatrist.
But he eventually visited a psychiatrist, spending some time solving the doctor’s problems before discussing his own.
The psychiatrist diagnosed him with being “disturbed and manic depressive” and prescribed medication. Kher took it for two months and then stopped, which helped him overcome the issue.
