Anshuman Jha has signed his next film, “Welcome To Agra”, opposite Australian actress Sara Hopkins. Directed by debutant Ashish Dubey, the movie is a timeless love story between a cycle rickshaw driver and a British tourist in Agra, set in the year 2000.
Born in Uttar Pradesh, Ashish Dubey has assisted big names in the South Indian film industry and aims to create a pure Hindi love story inspired by his roots.
Talking about the film, Ashish shared, “Agra is the epitome of love, and I’ve dreamt of making this film for years. With the Taj Mahal in the background, we want to bring back the charm of classic love stories to theatres. It’s all about the purity and emotional connection of genuine romance”.
Anshuman added, “Love has the power to move mountains. We haven’t seen a classic love story like “DDLJ” or “Jab We Met” in years.
This film’s setting, before social media and smartphones, makes it unique. Playing a rickshaw driver in Uttar Pradesh has been a dream role for me”.
Produced by Mad Films, the movie will begin filming in late January. Anshuman is set to finish shooting “Lakadbaggha 2” in December before spending Christmas with his wife and baby daughter.
