Legendary actor and encyclopedia of Telugu cinema acting, Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s 93rd birth anniversary today, 20th September. Even though he died in 2014, he is still alive in the hearts of Telugu Film fans.His films like Devadasu, Vipranarayana, Prem Nagar, Premaabhishekam, Manasu Mamatha, Illarikam, MoogaManasalu, Rojulu Marayi, Iddaru Mitrulu are considered classics even today. His acting in those movies are appreciated even today.
He shared screen space with all the biggest stars like NTR, SVR, Krishna, Sobhan Babu, Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna and Nagarjuna, his son, NagaChaitanya, his grandson. He is the only actor to have acted till his last breath for 73 years. He scaled to heights of stardom with Balaraju, Keelu gurram after his debut in Seetharama jananam. He is instrumental in bringing the telugu film industry from Chennai to heart of Telugu states, Hyderabad. His films were followed religiously by Telugu women and he is the man who introduced dances on the screen. His portrayal in films like Missamma, Devadasu, Anarkali, Dongaramudu, Mahakavi Kalidasu are regarded as text books for acting in those genres.
He is the man who achieved everything in the film industry with his talent and gave back to industry in the form of Annapoorna Studios and AISFM film school. There are no awards that he hadn’t received barring Bharat Ratna. He was awarded Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri by Indian Government. He was also awarded Dada Saheb Phalke and the first Telugu actor to do so. He stays in our hearts till long and he truly lives on!
