Anni Manchi Sakunamule Movie Review & Rating

Noted director Nandini Reddy is back with a film titled, Anni Machi Sakunamule. Starring Santhosh Sobhan and Malavika Nair as the lead pair, the film is bankrolled by Swapna Cinemas banner and has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it fares.

Story: Rishi (Santhosh Sobhan) and Arya (Malvika Nair) are childhood friends. They go to Italy on a business trip. Being family friends, conflicts arise between the family members. What is the reason behind conflicts among the family members? What is the reason behind the disturbance among the family members? Is Italy’s trip of Rishi and Arya the reason behind the disturbances among the family members, forms a crucial crux?

Performances: Santhosh Sobhan is perfect in his boy-next-door role. His jovial acting adds weight to the proceedings. His acting in emotional scenes brings depth to the family-oriented scenes.

Malvika Nair is perfect in her purposeful role. She impresses with her performance in the given role which has a scope to perform throughout. Her settled acting in the given role adds realistic texture to the film.

As major of the film revolves around the lead characters the film has supporting roles played by Naresh, Rajendra Prasad, Rao Ramesh nicely.

It is good to see actress Gautami in a key role after a brief gap. Being a proven actor, she is amazing with her performance in the key role and brings depth to the movie.

Other actors such as Vennela Kishore are hilarious in their given roles and so is the case with the other artists who played supporting roles.

Technicalities: The music composed by Mickey J Meyer is soothing as his instrumentation adds weight to the proceedings. Hia’s mark to visible in the film as he tried to elevate the crucial scenes with his sound. As usual, his songs are situational and laced with good texture which elevates the mood of the film neatly.

The photography work by Sunny Kurapati and Richard Prasad shines as the entire film is showcased on a lavish note. The rich frames and arresting lens make the film a cool watch during this hot summer.

Dialogues provided by Lakshmi Bhupala are decent. Especially, his family-related dialogues bring a feel to the movie. The screenplay provided by Sheik Dawood G. is apt to the setup created.

The costume is designed nicely by Pallavi Singh. Editing work by Junaid Siddiqui is okay but would have avoided unwanted deviations by keeping the runtime within the limits.

Analysis: Director Nandini Reddy came up with a regular storyline that has an interesting premise created for the initial part but the movie falls flat due to unwanted deviations in the first half. Instead, she would have focused on working a tight screenplay.

Anni Manchi Sakunamule is a family entertainer that had its moments but falls flat with the narrative at regular intervals. The execution falters with the overall execution but has a few decent comedy scenes and feel-good moments.

But the rest is totally dragged out with a lengthy runtime some single point stretched point and snail-paced narration comes as the major demerits for the movie.

To summarize, Anni Machi Sakunamule is a simple family entertainer that has a few feel-good moments in the narrative but lack of engaging elements in the presentation due to which the execution part looks diluted. Despite having the above-mentioned demerits the family genre of the film makes the movie might appeal to a very limited section of the audience.

Verdict: Passable watch!
