National Award-winning actress Anjali Patil is happy with the response to her film Selvi at the Busan International Film Festival, where it won two awards.
Directed by debutant Sailesh Rathnakumar, the film revolves around home care nurses. Anjali has also produced the film and played the lead role.
She said all the screenings at Busan were sold out and audiences showed great interest in the story. Anjali was attracted to the film because of its strong writing and authentic portrayal of Indian culture. She also helped develop her character and worked closely with the team.
Anjali believes content driven films can succeed in theatres despite changing audience preferences. She cited films like Tourist Family and Dragon as examples.
Selvi will travel to more international film festivals before its Indian premiere. The makers hope to release it in theatres early next year.
