Anil Sharma, the director of Gadar 2, has responded to Govinda’s assertion that he was the original candidate for the franchise. He apologised, claiming he had been misunderstood.
The second Gadar installment, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, shattered numerous box office records. Gadar 2, which has the same director as its predecessor, continues to do well. Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan continued to draw its own audience even after its enormously successful premiere. Director Anil Sharma recently gave a thorough interview where he clarified a misunderstanding with Govinda following the movie’s worldwide popularity.
The filmmaker recently said that the veteran actor misinterpreted their chat and believed that he wanted to work with him on the Sunny Deol blockbuster. The actor was too preoccupied to remember anything that was spoken at the time, the filmmaker further noted.
Anil Sharma refuted his assertions in an interview with Bollywood Thikana, saying, “How could it have been Govinda in that role? “Sunny was always meant to be it,” the Hindi-speaking director added. Bechare, unko nahi yaad raha hoga (The poor fellow was mistaken), he said. I told him I had a story for Sunny Deol when we were working on a project. He enquired as to what it was, and I responded. He claimed that because he couldn’t have made the movie, it’s fortunate that I went to Sunny.
He must’ve thought that since I was telling him the story, I wanted him to do the role. He forgot that I’d already signed Sunny, the deal was done even before we met. It’s like how I met Salman Khan before Gadar 2, and he asked me what I was doing. I told him the story of Gadar 2, and he said that the movie would be a blockbuster. Maybe Govinda forgot. Bade aadmi they, itni filmein karte they uss waqt, yeh choti si baat thi, dimaag se nikal gayi’” added Anil Sharma.
