Anil Kapoor, the Bollywood actor and proud father, recently took to social media to express his pride in his daughter Sonam Kapoor. Sonam had the honour of delivering a speech at the coronation of King Charles III in London on May 6, where she addressed a huge crowd and spoke about the significance of the Commonwealth. Anil Kapoor praised his daughter’s performance, highlighting her poise and grace on stage, and expressing his joy at seeing her represent India on an international platform. The highlight of Sonam’s speech was her opening with the traditional Indian greeting “namaste,” which has garnered praise from people around the world. The gesture not only represented India’s rich culture and heritage but also served as a symbol of respect towards the host country and its traditions.
Sharing Sonam’s picture from the coronation, Anil captioned, “Sonam has always done things differently and it makes me so happy when she gets recognized and celebrated for it. It is such an honor to be invited amidst royalty to address all the commonwealth nations. It seems fitting that Sonam should represent our country on a global stage with other accomplished artists to bring in a new era of unity, harmony and creativity. As a father, and as a member of the Indian film fraternity, I could not be more proud of Sonam for being the face and voice of this generation.”
Sonam Kapoor’s family members, including her mother Sunita Kapoor, had also expressed their pride and joy at her accomplishment on social media. Sunita Kapoor, sharing a video of Sonam’s speech at the coronation ceremony wrote, “So proud! Such an honour!”
On the professional front, Sonam Kapoor is next expected to feature in a film titled Blind which is an official remake of the 2011 Korean film by the same name. It tells the story of a blind police officer in search of a serial killer. Directed by debutant director Shome Makhija, the film also stars Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak, and Lillete Dubey.
