An anthology web show titled, Anger Tales directed by Prabhala Tilak is streaming on noted OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar. Let’s see how it fares.

Story: Anger Tales deals with four different stories set in different backdrops. While the first story revolves around Ranga( Venkatesh Maha) an ardent fan of a star hero, the second segment says the story of a married woman Pooja Reddy( Madonna Sebastian), who faces issues with her vegan husband and mother-in-law. The third episode revolves around a housewife named Radha( Bindu Madhavi) whose sleep gets disturbed due to her house owner and relatives. The last tale says the story of a 32-year-old man Giridhar who often faces problems in life due to his bald head. How things turn upside down in each individual life due to anger issues, forms a crucial crux.

Performances: Venkatesh Maha played his part perfectly as an ardent fan of a star hero. Every youthful moviegoer will relate to his character that has a soul in it. In the same segment, Suhas was impressed as well with his settled acting in the extended cameo role.

The second episode has Madonna Sebastian and Tharun Bhascker as the lead pair fine with their respective roles. All the other artists who played key roles in the episode are okay with their performances.

Bindu Madhavi and Phani Acharya from the third and fourth episodes did their part quite effectively. Ravindra Vijay’s acting is good in his combination of family scenes with Bindu Madhavi in the third segment.

Technicalities: Smaran Sai explores the mood and depth in each episode with his background decently. Especially, his work registers for the last two episodes. The dialogues are written neatly according to the premise of each episode.

While the photography work is good and apt to the context in each segment, editing would have been better. Production values for this web show are good.

Analysis: Director Prabhala Tilak’s basic idea of making an anthology series based on one of the key human emotions Anger is a nice thought but he would have worked on developing the script for each episode on a gripping note to get unanimous applause.

The first two episodes Benefit Show and Food Festival starring Venkatesh Maha and Madonna Sebastian in the lead role in respective segments had scope to execute in an even more gripping way by ignoring unwanted dragged narrative but looks like the director lost command over the proceedings in the two episodes.

Comparatively, the third and fourth episodes are good in the four-part anthology even though there are a few issues in character establishment in An Afternoon Nap and Helmet Head stories. To summarize, Anger Tales is just a passable web show that lacks proper detailing and a racy screenplay.

Verdict: Execution has issues!
