Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has requested Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to confer Bharat Ratna to the legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam who left this world only a few days back leaving all of us in deep grief. It is well known that SP Balu was tested COVID positive and as a precautionary measure, he joined MGM Health Care in Chennai. However, due to cardio-respiratory arrest, the singer breathed his last on September 25th.
Now, YS Jagan has written an open letter to Modi requesting him to confer Bharat Ratna to SP Balu. In the letter he mentioned, SPB’s achievements have gone beyond music. SP Balasubrahmanyam has sung over 40K+ songs in his Mother Tongue Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, and over 16 languages.
YS Jagan in his letter has reminded the center that in the past music stalwarts like Lata Mangeshkar, Bhupen Hazarika, M S Subbulakshmi, Bismillah Khan, and Bhimsen Joshi were conferred with the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna, by the Government of India. “This will be the highest recognition of his remarkable work in his 50 years’ service to the music industry.”
