Anakapalli was released on October 2nd. It stars Vikram Sahadev, son of producer Lagadapati Sridhar. Director Trinadha Rao Nakkina provided the story and screenplay, produced the film, and also played a key role. His involvement brought extra attention to the movie. The question is whether Anakapalli lives up to the buzz and justifies its budget.
Anakapalli Story: Set in 2012, Anakapalli follows Surya, a college student who is fascinated by the rowdy Bullet and joins his gang. Bullet soon makes Surya his right-hand man. Later, Surya falls in love with Amrutha, but their relationship creates problems between him and Bullet.
Surya eventually turns against Bullet, leading to a serious conflict. Why do the two friends become enemies? Can Surya’s mother save him from Bullet? What role does the MLA play in their story? The rest of the film revolves around these questions.
Performances: Vikram Sahadev shows improvement and does well in the action scenes and climax. Tarak Ponnappa is okay but feels repetitive with limited expressions. Sandhya Vashishta performs well, especially in the interval and climax, though her character lacks a proper ending. Indraja is dignified as the mother, while Trinadha Rao Nakkina is decent as the father. Srinivas Vadlamani impresses with his usual performance.
Technical Aspects: The film has good production values and impressive cinematography. The first half is decent, while the unexpected interval creates interest. However, the second half feels repetitive as it revolves around one point.
The climax is good but is stretched unnecessarily with the Jathara episode. The song is well shot, and the music is decent, though the background score could have been stronger. Trinadha Rao Nakkina’s comedy mark is missing, which suits the serious story.
Analysis: Anakapalli has a familiar story, but the treatment feels somewhat fresh. The first half and interval sequence are among the film’s engaging aspects.
Verdict: Anakapalli has an interesting first half and a solid interval, but the slow and repetitive second half makes it an average watch.
Bottom Line: A Mixed Ride With Some Good Moments.
Rating: 2/5
