Amitabh Bachchan Stopped Mohammad Rafi’s Flight ?

We’ll tell you about an incident that Big B once related to his audience on a programme in today’s throwback tale. The incident occurred when he travelled to Siliguri for a performance and had to ask the late singer Mohammad Rafi not to depart.

Amitabh Bachchan recounted the incident during his visit to The RKB Show and said, “We had a show in Siliguri, and Rafi saab was a major attraction. We were all there together, and we would each enter the stage individually to present the programme before exiting. Rafi Saab was scheduled to perform on the first day of the two-day event, and a different artist was scheduled for the second. For some reason, the second performer was unable to attend. We were concerned because we believed the show would need to be cancelled. In the morning, Rafi Saab had also departed for the airport.

I recall that we all sprinted to the airport and travelled great distances. We sprinted inside the airport and saw that he was already on the aircraft. The aircraft was preparing to take off. We asked the ATC if we could simply go and talk to him for two minutes while keeping our hands folded. We entered the plane after they gave us permission and said to Rafi Saab, “Saab, aise ho gaya hai, woh aaye nahi hain, aap ruk jayein toh… The man simply got up from his seat, descended silently, performed the following day as well, and then went back, continued Amitabh Bachchan.
