Amitabh Bachchan remembers visiting Satyajit Ray’s room, calls it Brilliance

Amitabh Bachchan remembers his encounter with Satyajit Ray at the latter’s house as he takes a trip down memory lane.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan reminisced about his meeting with Satyajit Ray, an important figure in Indian culture. He mentioned that the latter’s room was crammed with books and posters in a recent conversation.

One of the best filmmakers of all time is regarded as Ray. He was also a magazine editor, illustrator, calligrapher, musician, director, screenplay, novelist, essayist, and documentary filmmaker. His writings, which include “The Apu Trilogy,” “The Music Room,” “The Big City,” “Charulata,” and the “Goopy-Bagha” trilogy, are well-known.

Amitabh Bachchan, the season 15 host of the quiz-based reality series “Kaun Banega Crorepati,” greeted Varun Kesarwani from Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, the rollover competitor in the episode 13 of the “Rishtey Special” week.

Varun was asked, “Which film director created the Sahitya Akademi logo?” for the Rs. 3,20,000 question. Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Satyajit Ray, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, and Bhalji Pendharkar were the available choices. Varun used the double-dip lifeline and answered “Satyajit Ray,” which was the right response.

“The brilliance of Satyajit is reflected in the Sahitya Akademi logo,” the actor of “Agneepath” fame added. He had graphic design training. He created numerous book covers and posters. Previously, he created the title cards for his films by himself.

Amitabh Bachchan recalled his encounter with the director by saying: “I once had the good fortune of going over to his residence to meet him. To his room, he summoned me. It was a wonderful space. It was messy and full with papers, books, and posters scattered everywhere. You’d be unsure about your location.

Let me tell you something, though: if he needed something, say, a sheet of paper, he would quickly locate it. There, he used to draw quite a bit. He was quite good at it. Every frame in his films appears to be a painting, if you were to watch them frame by frame, said Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.

The International Film Festival of India renamed its annual Lifetime Achievement award to “Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2021 in honour of Ray’s 100th birthday and to honour the auteur’s legacy.

Sony broadcasts “Kaun Banega Crorepati 15.”
