Ameesha Patel On Replacing Kareena Kapoor In Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai

Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai completed a milestone in 2025, turning 25 years old on January 14, 2025. The film starred Ameesha Patel and Hrithik Roshan in the lead, and their cute chemistry won millions of hearts when it was released in 2000. The film also marks Hrithik and Ameesha’s 25 years in Bollywood.

To celebrate the milestone, the movie was re-released on Hrithik’s birthday, January 10, 2025. While the film remains a favourite among movie buffs, many are unaware that Kareena Kapoor was initially cast as the female lead. However, she was replaced by Ameesha Patel, who made her debut in 2000 with Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai.

After all this year, Ameesha recently reflected upon the blockbuster success of the film and said, “I think Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai was a gain for all the people involved in it. Kareena has gained a lot independently, and I’ve gained a lot independently. So, I don’t think we should go into equations.”

In another chat with Bollywood Bubble, Patel stated, “Actually, she (Kareena) didn’t back out. From what Rakesh ji told me, he asked her to leave the film because they were having differences.”

When asked if Kareena’s exit became a fruitful opportunity for her, Ameesha reiterated that Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai’s success belongs to everyone associated with it.

However, in a previous interview with Filmfare, Kareena candidly spoke about why she left the film, expressing no regret for her decision. She shared that the movie was made solely for Hrithik Roshan’s big launch in the film industry.
