It is well-known that Kareena Kapoor Khan left Hrithik Roshan’s Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai, but Ameesha Patel recently disclosed that Bebo was also let go.
Everyone is aware that Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor (Khan)’s dream debut in Rakesh Roshan’s Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai was a reality. Up until the day Kareena abruptly exited the sets, shocking everyone. As it is Hrithik’s launch vehicle, she later stated in several interviews that she feared she would be overshadowed. Kareena was then replaced by Ameesha Patel in the movie, and the rest is history, as they say.
But what if we told you that this history has been somewhat altered and omits a crucial fact that was just revealed by our very own Sakeena from Gadar 2, who had her dream debut as Sonia in Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai rather than Kareena?
Thanks to the different Bebo & Duggu fan groups, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Hrithik Roshan collaborated on a few sequences and a picture session for the movie that is still accessible online. In a surprising turn of events, Ameesha Patel now divulges information about the movie that, up until this point, had only been known to the Roshans and Ameesha.
Kareena Kapoor never left Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai, according to the Gadar 2 actress. After a few days of shooting, she was really shown the route. She said, “Actually she didn’t back out. Mr Rakesh Roshan, from what he told me was that, he asked her to leave the film because they had differences. In fact Pinky Aunty, Rakesh uncle’s wife and Hrithik’s mom, said we were shocked. The set was ready and how will you find a Sonia in three days?”
Ameesha continued, “Crores of rupees on that set and you know they’ll have to be dismantled. What we do with the film and it was Hrithik’s debut and everyone was really stressed.” However, later obviously, they found the perfect choice for Sonia in Patel, whom Rakesh Roshan had seen dancing at a Sangeet while she was kid.
Returning to Bebo, despite Ameesha’s assertion that she was given the exit from the movie, there is still a moment where she is seen in a long shot. In fact, during one of her appearances on a renowned chat show, Kareena herself disclosed that scenario! In Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Hrithik Roshan still had a strong on-screen connection. Even in Yaadein and Main Prem Ki Deewanui Hoon, they appeared together.
Kareena Kapoor explained why she chose not to participate in Kaho Naa in a very old interview with Filmfare.”Pyaar Hai.” The diva uttered, “The film was made for Hrithik. His dad spent five hours on every frame and close-up of his, whereas not even five seconds were spent on Ameesha.”
Being the sassy Bebo she was then, the actress even tried taking a dig at Ameesha and said, “There are portions in the film where she has pimples and under-eye bags on her face. She just doesn’t look beautiful, but every shot of his was a dream. If I were in the film, I would have definitely got a better deal, but I still feel that the attention would have been divided between us. So, I’m glad I didn’t do the film.”
Ameesha Patel’s debut in Kaho Naa alongside Hrithik Roshan was all a debutante could want for…after Kareena Kapoor Khan was replaced, Pyaar Hai. On the other hand, JP Dutta’s box office failure Refugee marked Kareena’s acting debut alongside another star youngster, Abhishek Bachchan.
