Actress Ameesha Patel has spoken out against the way Bollywood sidelines women today. She said that female leads now get less screen time than what she once received in her past special appearances.
In an interview, the Gadar 2 star highlighted how women’s roles have shrunk, how male actors are insecure, and what this means for the future of cinema.
Ameesha pointed out that earlier, women had stronger, meatier roles, and heroes were secure enough to allow it. According to her this lack of balance is one reason audiences are losing interest in paying for movies.
She also questioned the longevity of today’s stars compared to veterans like Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, and Sunny Deol, who have ruled for decades.
She concluded by saying Bollywood is losing out by not giving women their due. “Women add glamour, emotion, soul, and drama to films,” she stressed.
