While 2021 began on a promising note, with all the films released for Sankranthi this year turning out to be good hits. However, during the second week of April, and through the month of May, the country suffered greatly due to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, which no one saw coming. This resulted in the film industries in the country withdrawing from the theatres once again.
Theatres have been reopened in the Telugu states on July 30th, and films are being released in theatres since then, but producers and filmmakers aren’t as keen or confident on releasing their films in the theatres yet, due to reports suggesting that the third wave of coronavirus is imminent. As a result, almost every big film has announced its release date in 2022. Even RRR, which continues to be scheduled to release on October 13th this year, is expected to be postponed to next year.
On the other hand, Stylish Star Allu Arjun continues to stick to releasing his film, Pushpa, this year itself, as he doesn’t want his next films’ release to be hampered. Allu Arjun has Venu Sriram’s Icon and Pushpa 2 scheduled to release next year, and delaying Pushpa would delay the release of those films, which the actor is reportedly trying to avoid.
