Allari Naresh with Amala Paul?

Nivin Pauly, the Malayalam rising Superstar, is in high demand all around south and his old films are now being highly watched by Telugu filmmakers to decide on which one to be remade suiting their sensibilities and image. Young heroes especially are looking to add his previous hit subjects to their repertoire too.Recently, Sundeep Kishan remade his Nivin’s Neram as Run and Nivin’s other film with Neram director, Alphonse Puthiren turned out to be the cult classic, Premam and recently Naga Chaitanya won many rewards and box office collections too with his version of Premam. Another hero is adding his name to the list and it is Allari Naresh. There was a young hero who tried to remake Thattatin Maryattu, the famous love story that put Nivin on the map as Saheba Subramanyam but film was unsuccessful in Telugu.

Allari Naresh, even though started with an adult comedy as a hero, he slowly but surely graduated into a dependable comic hero with the help of his father and his clever choices. But since his Sudigadu, he is struggling at box office to find a good hit and today, even though he completed 50 films, he doesn’t have memorable like his predecessors Naresh and Rajendra Prasad did. Still, Naresh proved his acting abilities in movies like Shambo Shiva Shambo, Gamyam and Nenu. Except for Gamyam the other two did not become desired successes. He even turned villain in Vishakha Express, but somehow he remained as a comedic lead than being recognized for being a complete actor.

Now, he decided to try the youthful blockbuster of Nivin Pauly, Oru Vadakkan Selfie. The story revolves around a college going Nivin Pauly from North Kerala who aspires to become a director but ends up tagged to a scandal in his village as a person who ran with his neighbours daughter. The film without bringing the romantic angle between the leads, explores the friendship and growing up of the character of the protagonist. This coming of age in Telugu would be good to explore but if directors decide to make it as a normal Allari Naresh film then we will have a big problem. Amala Paul is said to have signed the film in Manjima Mohan’s role from the original as the girl who runs away, but the official confirmation is yet to be made.
