Paradha, starring Anupama Parameswaran is the only major Telugu film hitting theatres this weekend. Directed by Praveen Kandregula, the social drama grabbed attention with its thought-provoking trailer raising curiosity among audiences. Now the big question is whether this buzz will actually turn into box office success.
Anupama, confident about the film, even told audiences to watch it only if the reviews are good, calling Paradha the best project of her career.
The makers have also taken a bold step by arranging paid premieres in select theatres before the release.
Such premieres can go either way. If the film’s content connects, the early shows will boost word of mouth, especially for a small film like Paradha. But if the response is weak, it may hurt opening day collections.
With recent biggies like Coolie and War 2 slowing down, the industry is in need of a hit. Paradha might just fill that gap, alongside performances by Darshana Rajendran and Sangeetha.
