It is not uncommon for actresses to have releases of their films within very short spans from the other. However, it is extremely rare that the same actress would headline two of the biggest projects in the country, in pivotal or lead roles, and would have them release on consecutive days.
Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is now in such a situation, with her films, Gangubai Kathiwadi and RRR, set to release on the 6th and 7th of January 2022, respectively. Alia plays the titular role in the former, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, one of India’s topmost directors, while she plays Sita in the latter, directed by Rajamouli, yet another of India’s topmost directors.
With her films set to release on consecutive days, Alia is now in a weird situation, one that no actress has been in, in the recent past. Both the films have good expectations on them, with the audiences expecting nothing less than stellar performances and spell-binding story-telling from the filmmakers.
