He is currently marketing the movie and participating in interviews to discuss his journey, his films, and his professional career to date. But, during a recent media interview, Akki discussed the incident in which he received harsh criticism for starring in a pan-masala ad alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn and explained why he later apologised for the endorsement.
Over the course of his three-decade career, Akshay has sponsored a number of companies, but this was the first occasion when he faced significant backlash for working with the company on an advertising. The actor has frequently been involved in issues due of his personal relationships, but this time he admitted his error because he felt guilty about it.
After the pan-masala ad went viral and sparked controversy, Akshay Kumar finally revealed in an interview the rationale for his apology to his followers. The Raksha Bandhan actor said, “I have made mistakes and I also owned up to them, when speaking on the same topic. similar to how I made that elaichi brand advertisement. I acknowledged that I was wrong. I had a difficult time falling asleep that night and felt restless. I clarified and wrote what I needed to write as a result.
Akshay Kumar admitted, “I felt it was a mistake,” when further questioned in the media about if he ever thought the apology came a little late. Everyone gains knowledge from their mistakes, and I did too. Akshay Kumar joined the Vimal ad campaign for their elaichi as a brand ambassador alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn, and right away, rumours about Akshay’s “double standards” began to circulate. Pan masala is what Vimal is best known for.
Yet, in response to the criticism, Akshay Kumar apologised on his Twitter account, writing, “I am sorry. I want to apologise to all of my supporters and well-wishers. I was greatly impacted by your response over the last few days. Despite the fact that I have not and will not support smoking, I respect your sentiments given my connection to Vimal Elaichi. I take a step back, completely humble. I’ve made the decision to donate the entire endorsement fee to a deserving cause. The brand may keep running the commercials for as long as the binding contract on me is in effect, but I swear to use extra caution going forward. In exchange, I’ll ask forever continue to ask for your love and wishes.
