There were huge expectations on Balakrishna and director Boyapati Srinu’s Akhanda, before its release. Given that this is the third film for the actor-director duo, after superhits like Simha and Legend in the past, audiences were expecting nothing less than a blockbuster. Upon release, Akhanda turned out to be a massive hit, surpassing everyone’s expectations, and turning out to be Balayya’s career-best.
Not just the market in the Telugu states, but Akhanda has managed to put the overseas market on fire as well. Akhanda has managed to cross the $500,000 mark in the US already, within just two days of its release. It is expected to enter the $1M club very soon, especially with the weekend having approached already.
On the other hand, Akhanda’s resounding success at the box office has given a lot of hope for other filmmakers as well, especially those who have big films gearing up for release in the coming months.
