Ajith‘s highly anticipated film “Vidaamuyarchi” is set to release during Pongal 2025. The announcement came along with the teaser a few days ago. However, soon after, rumors surfaced that caused concern among Ajith’s fans.
Reports claimed that “Vidaamuyarchi” is an unofficial remake of the Hollywood movie “Breakdown” and that Paramount Pictures is suing Lyca Productions for Rs. 150 crore. However, when contacted, sources close to Lyca Productions dismissed these claims as baseless.
A representative from the production house clarified, “Lyca has been in the industry for a long time and fully understands intellectual property rights. The idea of paying Rs. 150 crore for a remake is wrong. Such rumors show a lack of understanding about the filmmaking business”.
When asked how the rumor started, the source explained that some visuals in the teaser resemble scenes from Breakdown.
However, this similarity is purely coincidental. Social media users likely started the speculation because of Ajith’s star power and to stir controversy.
