Aishwarya Rai, who recently visited Puttaparthi for the 100th year celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, spoke openly about street harassment.
At a beauty brand event she was asked about the issue and she gave a clear and honest reply. Aishwarya said women should never be blamed for their clothes or the way they look.
She also shared some simple advice for women, don’t hide, don’t look down and don’t try to make yourself smaller. “Look straight into their eyes. Hold your head high”, she said. Her line, “Don’t blame your dress or your lipstick”, became the highlight and quickly spread online.
Many people appreciated her strong message saying it was overdue. A small section of netizens suggested that clothing can affect situations but most people strongly rejected that idea, saying women have full freedom to dress how they want.
On the film side, Aishwarya is still enjoying the huge success of Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2, which earned around Rs. 345 crore worldwide.
