Director-actor Sandeep Raj turns producer with the web series AIR: All India Rankers. This 7-episode series, now streaming on ETV Win (from July 3rd), follows the life of a regular 10th-grade student facing challenges in intermediate. It explores friendships, habits, and teenage struggles. Let’s see how well it connects with the audience!
AIR Movie Story: After 10th results, three students, Arjun, Imran, and Raju, join an IIT integrated course at AIR college in Vijayawada, each for different reasons. The series explores their struggles, friendships, and how they deal with academic pressure and personal challenges.
Performances: The best part of the series is that every character has a meaningful role, not just the leads. Harsh Roshan, Bhanu Prakash, and Jayateertha delivered equally strong performances, and their emotions connect well with the audience, especially those born in the 90’s or who stayed in hostels. Jeevan’s role starts off funny but becomes emotional later.
Sandeep Raj’s portrayal of the strict management head adds depth. Sameer’s emotional scene with his son is a surprise highlight.
Technical Aspects: Sinjith Yerramilli’s background score is a major highlight of the series, offering a fresh and unique feel, especially with vocal BGMs. Manoj’s cinematography is decent, and the production team planned everything efficiently. Though the CG work had flaws, the emotional and comedy scenes made up for it.
Director-writer Joseph Clinton handled the series with care. He kept the storytelling simple, added clean comedy, and dealt with sensitive topics thoughtfully. Emotional scenes and character arcs were well-executed. While a few episodes felt slow, the series remained engaging. Overall, Joseph delivered a solid success as both writer and director.
Analysis: AIR: All India Rankers fills the gap Telugu content often had compared to Hindi TVF series. With clean humor, relatable moments, and family-friendly scenes, it’s a perfect series to binge-watch over the weekend.
Verdict: AIR: All India Rankers is a refreshing and relatable Telugu web series that stands out with its clean humor, emotional depth, and strong performances. With well-written characters, thoughtful direction, and quality storytelling, it offers a feel-good experience for all age groups. A perfect weekend binge, especially for those who enjoy slice-of-life dramas with heart.
Bottom Line: Heartfelt, and truly binge-worthy.
