Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is known for both his filmmaking and his penchant for stirring controversies. He has a history of making critical remarks about top Bollywood stars and indirectly targeting Prabhas in preview interviews. Despite his claims of not fearing competition, his latest film, “The Vaccine War,” failed to secure even a meager 1 crore rupees in its opening day earnings.
Before the film’s release, Agnihotri confidently dismissed competition with Prabhas’ “Salaar,” citing the success of “The Kashmir Files” over Prabhas’ “Radhe Shyam.” However, “Salaar” faced a delay in its release, while “The Vaccine War” received positive reviews but still struggled to cross the 1 crore net earnings mark in India on its opening day.
Notably, Pallavi Joshi, the producer of “The Vaccine War,” is also Agnihotri’s wife. The film boasted a stellar cast, an intriguing plot, and received a ‘U’ certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
“The Vaccine War” features Nana Patekar, Pallavi Joshi, Raima Sen, Sapthami Gowda, and Anupam Kher in key roles, with appearances by Girija Oak, Nivedita Bhattacharya, and Mohan Kapur. Despite the buzz and efforts behind the film, its box office performance fell short of expectations.
