Akhil Akkineni and director Surender Reddy’s spy thriller, agent co-starring Mommootty in a key role has hit the screens today. Amidst good expectations, the film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it fares.

Story: Ramakrishna (Agent) is an eternal hacker. With his hacking skills Ramakrishna tries to impress Mahadev (Mommootty) who happens to be a RAW chief. The common target for Mahadev and Ramakrishna is a ruthless don God (Dino Morea) is kingpin of the international syndicate. What is the conflict between Ramakrishna and God? How will Ramakrishna who happens to be an eternal hacker be able to track the international syndicate? How Mahadev helps Ramakrishna in reaching God, forms the crucial crux..

Performances: Akhil Akkineni’s makeover as the ‘wild saala’ is good. His physical appearance is with a six-Pack abs is good and adds an authentic texture to the film.

Akhil’s bread and long grown hair bring depth to the proceedings. He is especially captivating in interval. Compared to his previous films, Akhil’s hardwork is clearly visible in the film. Maturity in his acting is visible in every frame of the proceedings.

Mammootty is absolutely fantastic in his role as a RAW agent. His expressions and dialogue delivery are perfectly apt for the film.

Sakshi Vadiya is utilizes the given opportunity.she is neither great on screen nor she is presented in an adorable manner.

Looks-wise, Dino Morea is superb but he needs to improve in terms of acting.Other key artists like Sampath among others are fine in their respective roles.

Technicalities: Music composed by Hip hop Tamizha a proper punch in it as his songs or background score elevates the mood of the film. Most importantly, his sounding a proper sync with the proceedings.

The photography work by Rasool Ellore is outstanding as he presented is entire film on rich note. His framing and camera angles are good.

The editing work needs a serious trimming as the film has unwanted to sequence which disturbs the flow of the film.

Production values for his high budget entertainer are lavish as so is the case with production design work. Lastly, not to forget the hard work put in by the art department. They made the things appealing with their amazing work.

Analysis: The main minus for the film is its pretty ordinary and routine first half with nothing noteworthy other than a warning scene and decent interval. Songs/BGM are a huge drawback.

Also, heroine doesn’t have minimum lip sync and her scenes are boring.None of her scenes are either engaging or passable on the screen.

Akhil is alright in an energetic avatar but even his characterization goes overboard at times. It’s hard to take the film serious when it reminds us of every other spy movie and has so many illogical scenes with a poor climax.

Overall a below par and clumsy spy action film which cent percent impress the audience to the sky-high expectations.

To summarize, apart from a few blocks, almost everything else with this film goes wrong. The writing itself is very weak along with a stupid villain character. The songs/bgm are atrocious. In one word, Agent can be named as Surrender Reddy’s weakest work.

Verdict: Authentic spy thriller!

Rating: 2.5/5
