Adhurs Re-release: Laughter or Silence at the Box Office?

NTR’s Adhurs is gearing up for a re-release in Tollywood on 18th November, but initial booking trends suggest a lukewarm response, particularly in major centers like RTC X Roads. This lackluster anticipation stands in contrast to the recent success of Mega Star Chiranjeevi’s Shankar Dada MBBS re-release earlier this month, indicating that the charm of re-releases might be fading.

Interestingly, even fans seem disinterested in celebrating Adhurs’ return to the big screen, raising questions about the film’s appeal after more than a decade. Directed by VV Vinayak, the film marked the third collaboration between Vinayak and NTR, following the success of Aadi and the less successful Samba.

Adhurs, released in 2010, gained massive popularity and box-office success primarily for its comedic elements, featuring a memorable track by NTR and Brahmanadam, complemented by Devi Sri Prasad’s catchy music. As the re-release date approaches, the industry will be watching closely to see if Adhurs manages to generate renewed interest and whether the trend of lackluster re-releases can be reversed in Tollywood.
