Vijayashanthi is a politically active person. In the 90s, Vijayashanthi attained a superstar image with her women-centric films, the image that is equal to Chiranjeevi and Rajinikanth then. Vijayashanthi in the year 1998 has joined Bharatiya Janatha Party and became active.
Since then she has concentrated more on politics. However, she left BJP and founded Talli Telangana in 2005. In 2009, she merged her party with Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
The actress cum politician elected as MP from Medak Lok Sabha on TRS ticket. In 2014, before the elections, she quit TRS and joined Congress.
Now, Vijayashanthi was disappointed with the way the party members have treated her. After being felt sidelined, Vijayashanthi is back with BJP. Yesterday, she joined the party.
Filmswise, Vijayashanthi has done a crucial role in Mahesh Babu’s Sarileru Neekevvaru but didn’t accept any other offers from then.
