Actor Sameer Khakhar Passed away at 71 on Wednesday

On Wednesday morning, Sameer Khakhar, well known for playing Khopdi in the popular 1980s television programme “Nukkad,” passed away. According to the news, the actor died in a Mumbai hospital from multiple organ failures. The late actor’s younger brother Ganesh Khakhar claimed that after complaining of respiratory problems, he was rushed to MM Hospital in Borivali, Mumbai.

Ganesh said that the actor lost consciousness after he had difficulty breathing. The doctor, who came to see him at home, recommended admitting him to the hospital. The star fainted following multiple organ failures while being taken to the intensive care unit. “He has been experiencing respiratory issues since yesterday and then lost consciousness. We called the doctor at home, and he requested that we take him to the hospital. He was brought into MM Hospital’s intensive care unit. He experienced several organ failures over time. Director Hansal Mehta remembered his college days and said his close friends continue to call him Khopdi after Khakhar’s iconic character. “For some reason, I was nicknamed Khopdi in college after his iconic character in Nukkad.
