Prathap Pothen is a famous actor who predominantly worked in the Malayalam and Tamil industries but has also done a few films in Telugu. He has also directed a few films and is known to be the pioneer of doing cinema different from the mainstream cinema in Malayalam at his time.
He has acted in over 100 films spanning Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages and has even written and produced several films. He married actress Radhika in 1985, but the two got divorced just a year later. The couple has a daughter, who was present at the time of the actor’s death.
Prathap Pothen passed away in his sleep last night in Chennai. Kerala Minister Pinarayi Vijayan responded to the actor’s death and said that he will always remain with the audiences for his memorable performances and will always be loved. His last rites are expected to take place in Chennai on Saturday.
