Megastar Chiranjeevi’s highly-anticipated film, Acharya had a theatrical release yesterday. Also starring Ram Charan in a key role, the film was directed by Koratala Siva. Cashing in on the stardom of the father-son duo, the pre-release business for the film is done on a whopping note. Reportedly, the film’s business is locked for Rs 133.2 crore.
But as a rude shock to the distributors and exhibitors, Acharya opened to a negative word of mouth yesterday. Trade reports say that the film has minted below-par collections not only in Telugu states but also in overseas and minted Rs 31.93 crore share on its first day. Below is area wise break-up date:

As the film has to collect more than Rs 134 crore share to be termed as a box office hit, Acharya should collect more than Rs 102 crore share. Though the film has registered decent revenues on its opening day, we have to wait and see how far will it perform in the coming days.
