Abhishek Bachchan said in a recent interview that he turned down the Aamir Khan-directed Lagaan back in the day.
One of the most well-known actors in Bollywood with a star-studded pedigree is Abhishek Bachchan. He is the husband of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and the son of the famous Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. In a recent interview, the actor talked of repeatedly turning down the Aamir Khan-starring movie “Lagaan” back in the day. He backed up his comments with allusions to The Godfather and Marlon Brando.
One of those actors who never holds back from saying what’s on their mind and frequently trolls on social media is Abhishek. We appreciate how honest and unpretentious he is despite coming from a large celebrity family.
Regarding the report that he turned down the Ashutosh Gowariker film, Abhishek Bachchan said in an interview about Lagaan, “I was persuaded I was not suited for the part. I was far too immature and inexperienced to carry a movie like Lagaan. Naturally, I anticipated that it would be enormous. But I simply wasn’t prepared to take part in it.
Abhishek Bachchan said, “I am delighted Aamir did Lagaan, when asked if he would like to act in ‘Lagaan’ if it were offered to him now. He gave the project so much legitimacy and magic. Every movie and every role has a specific outcome. How many actors received offers for The Godfather before Marlon Brando, do you know? Why are we discussing this now? It is humiliating. I would rather discuss the films I have made than the ones I haven’t.
Lagaan, meanwhile, is among the greatest Hindi films ever made and was even nominated for an Oscar in 2002 for “Best International Feature Film.”
