The 2020 Galwan Valley clash between India and China, where 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives, continues to inspire films.
After LAC: Battle of Galwan and Salman Khan’s upcoming project on the same topic, a new movie is being planned based on the life of Vir Chakra awardee Sepoy Gurtej Singh.
Titled The Lion of Galwan (working title), it will be produced by businessman Himalay Dassani, husband of actress Bhagyashree. Their son, actor Abhimanyu Dassani, will play Gurtej Singh.
Himalay said he was moved by Gurtej’s story and got the rights from his family in Punjab. The movie will cover Gurtej’s childhood, the deadly night of June 15, 2020, and India’s military and diplomatic response.
Research teams are working in Chandigarh and Delhi consulting with the Indian Army and government officials. Filming is expected to start in Ladakh in 2026. Himalay also said he supports other films on the Galwan clash, including Salman’s.
After #SalmanKhan‘s #BattleOfGalwan, #HimalayDassani to produce another movie based on the India-China clash, headlined by his son #AbhimanyuDassani who plays Sepoy Gurtej Singh.
